However, you need not panic as there are laws that govern the extent to which these agencies can go in their collection of debts for their clients. There are many things that you need to be aware of when you are contacted by these agencies.<\/span> It can be difficult for collection agencies<\/span><\/a> to actually recover any money from you without your willingness to pay. However, you have to obey the law when dealing with these entities.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. <\/b> How does debt go into the collection?<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    A debt will be deemed to have gone into the collection if the creditors believe that the debtor is not going to pay the debt. This happens when the creditor is unable to reach the debtor or when the debtor has not made their regular repayments for some time. Sometimes when the debtor and the creditor can\u2019t come into amicable agreement, the debt may go into collection. If your payment has not been done in 3 to 6 months, the creditor may hire the services of a collection agent to help them recover their money. Sometimes a collection agency may purchase a loan from the lenders and collect it in whichever manner they deem fit.<\/span><\/p>\n

      When a creditor involves a collection agency, it means that they are entrusting their debt collection role to the agency. As such, the collection agency will try to reach you as soon as possible. If they cannot reach you, they will try to call your family, your attorney or your relatives. Usually, this is done by letter or by phone. The collection agency will, however, never discuss your debt with any person other than your spouse or your attorney.         You may not recognize the company that is calling you in the name of the collection agency. Regardless of this, it does not mean that they are calling you as a mistake. The creditors will mostly sell a credit account to a collection agency or use the agency to help recover the debt.
