We’ve all lost something valuable at one point or another. When camping, it’s easy to get distracted by the wide array of adrenaline-charged activities that are available. Hence, there’s barely enough time to monitor one’s belongings since every day camping offers another chance to quench one’s insatiable thirst for adventure.

Sadly, camp thefts are a common occurrence that have been gradually increasing in recent years. Imagine getting back to your beautiful tent after a long, tiring day to find your camping bag shredded to bits and all your belongings stolen. Agonizing, isn’t it?

Here are 3 tips to keeping track of your belongings while at camp:

  • Label them

Camping is the best way to unleash your wild side and have immense fun away from home. Sure, it’s a break from normal routine, but a change is as good as a rest. When you camp, it’s important to secure your personal belongings at all times. One technique you can use is labelling. All you need is a pen and a set of labels that can stick onto your items – complete this exercise before the actual camping date arrives to ensure that all your belongings are sufficiently labeled.

You can design your own customized Print Stickers at Stickeroo. Use these stickers to label each item you’ll be carrying to camp. This way, others will notice your unique stickers and steer clear of your belongings. Delightfully, creating your own stickers is quite affordable. All the designs are personalized to meet your distinct style.

  • Familiarize yourself with the neighbors

Since camping is a social activity, you’re bound to meet strange faces there. This isn’t the place to shy off – introduce yourself to new people and engage them in interesting conversation. Buddy up with a few individuals and watch each other’s backs. Talking to other campers not only allows you to make new friends, it also helps you to gauge how trustworthy they are. Some people are downright queer. Avoid humoring them and instead look for a clique that suits you. After all, birds of a feather flock together.

Once you’ve broken the ice and established a healthy rapport with a few campers, pitch your tents close and take turns looking after one another’s possessions. Trust often forms a crucial building block for the development of great friendships. Apart from helping you track down your belongings, teaming up with likeminded people lowers your stress levels and helps you make memorable camping experiences.

  • Leave the fancy gadgets at home

Chances are, you won’t need your laptop of iPad while camping out in the wild. It’s wise to leave such electronic gadgets back home where they’re safe. This way, you won’t attract the prying eyes of other campers. There’s been a steady increase in camp robberies over the last few years. It’s your responsibility to ensure that personal belongings are secured. Therefore, only pack items that are absolutely necessary for camp. This includes cardigans, socks, extra boots and camping gear. The less stuff you carry, the easier it’ll be to keep track of your possessions.

These few tips will help you keep a closer eye on your belongings while camping.
