Some invitations come with stories to tell. Others become memories you’ll carry with you long after the day is over. This spring, I had the opportunity to return to Six Flags Great Adventure with my family as an invited Content Creator, enjoying two wonderful days with my children and their friends, filled with adventure, surprises, laughter, and moments we’ll treasure for years to come.
There are experiences you plan for months.
And then there are the ones that arrive as a surprise.
For our family, Six Flags Great Adventure has gradually become one of those special places that ends up becoming part of your story.
Since the summer of 2025, we’ve had the opportunity to attend several special events hosted by the park, and each visit has brought something new: exciting attractions, animal encounters, behind-the-scenes tours, and most importantly, quality time with my children and their friends.

This spring, we were fortunate enough to attend two special events, one in April and another in May, and we came home with more stories than I expected.
Because yes, the roller coasters are amazing.
And yes, the Safari never fails to surprise us.
But when I think back on these days, what I remember most are the laughs during the drive, the conversations while walking from one attraction to another, the spontaneous photos, the shared meals, and that wonderful feeling of getting to play together again for a few hours.

Now that the days are getting longer, the trees are turning green again, and the weather is inviting us outdoors, it felt like the perfect time to share some of the surprises we discovered during our latest visits to Six Flags Great Adventure.
After everything life has thrown my way over the past year, these days felt like a breath of fresh air. They were opportunities to put worries on pause, walk until our feet were tired, laugh at silly things, enjoy good food, take photos, and remember that fun is also a form of self-care.
This spring, we had the opportunity to attend two special events hosted by Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, and I wanted to share a little of that experience with you.

How to Enjoy Six Flags Great Adventure as a Family
Our first visit took place during the park’s Spring Celebration in April. The park was waking up from winter, and you could already feel the excitement building for everything coming in 2026.
Our second visit was in May during Content Creator Day, an event designed specifically for creators. The day included early access to some of the park’s most popular attractions, exclusive experiences, safari tours, and behind-the-scenes visits to exciting new developments currently under construction.

One of the things I love most about these events is the opportunity to see the park from a completely different perspective—not only as a guest, but as someone who gets to learn about the planning, creativity, and passion behind every new experience.
The Safari: My Favorite Place in the Park
As much as I love roller coasters, my favorite part of every visit remains the Safari Off-Road Adventure.
Every time we board the vehicle, I feel the same excitement.
The scenery changes constantly, animals appear when you least expect them, and something new always seems to happen.

During our most recent visit, we had the chance to meet JJ, an adorable brown bear cub born just a few months ago. Watching him alongside his mother, Hollywood, was one of those moments that melts even the most serious visitor.
We also saw the giraffes again, which continue to be some of the most curious residents of the safari. On a previous visit, several of the younger giraffes seemed just as interested in observing us as we were in observing them.

What many visitors don’t realize is that Wild Safari is home to more than 1,200 animals and plays an important role in the park’s conservation efforts.
As a mom, I love that my children have grown up enjoying experiences like this. Having fun and learning about wildlife conservation can absolutely go hand in hand.
THE FLASH and a Soundtrack for Adrenaline
One of my favorite attractions during this visit was THE FLASH: Vertical Velocity.
Beyond the speed and unexpected twists, there’s one detail I absolutely loved: the music built into the ride experience.

It may sound like a small thing, but it completely changes the feeling of the ride.
The combination of sound, motion, and adrenaline makes everything feel more immersive, almost as if you’ve stepped into an action movie.
And speaking of intense experiences…

El Toro Deserves Its Own Section
If you’ve visited Six Flags Great Adventure before, you probably know exactly what I’m about to say.
And if you haven’t…
Prepare yourself.
El Toro is in a category all its own.
You get on thinking you’ve experienced roller coasters before.
You get off questioning several life choices.
I screamed.
I laughed.
Then I screamed again.
And when the ride ended, several of the kids immediately asked if we could go again.
One of the friends who came with us described the experience in a way that still makes me laugh:
“It feels like your soul briefly leaves your body.”
Honestly, that’s a pretty accurate description.
Lunch at Best of the West
After several hours of walking, it was finally time to eat.
During Content Creator Day, we enjoyed lunch at Best of the West, one of the dining experiences included in the event.
I chose the Smoked Sirloin Sandwich and absolutely loved it.
My kids went with the pork options, which received equally enthusiastic reviews around the table. There were also chicken sandwiches, salads, and several other options to choose from.
It was the perfect opportunity to sit down, relax, talk about our favorite rides from the morning, and recharge before continuing the adventure.
One mom tip I always share: if you’re planning to spend the entire day at the park, the refillable drink program is absolutely worth it, especially during the warmer summer months.
The Future of the Boardwalk
One of the most fascinating parts of our visit was the behind-the-scenes tour of the construction areas.
I have to admit that I’m incredibly excited about what they’re doing with the Boardwalk section of the park.
It feels fresh, modern, and thoughtfully designed to give families even more ways to enjoy their day together.

During the tour, we were able to see the progress of the massive project currently known as Project Purple.
There’s something special about seeing an attraction while it’s still taking shape. The structures begin to rise, the pieces start coming together, and little by little you can imagine what the finished experience will be like.
But Project Purple represents more than just a future roller coaster.
Recently, Six Flags Great Adventure announced a partnership with Project Purple, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about pancreatic cancer and supporting patients and families affected by the disease.
I thought it was wonderful to see such a major attraction connected to such an important cause.

What I’ll Remember Most
Every time we drive home after one of these events, we find ourselves talking about the same things.
Yes, the attractions are incredible.
The Safari is a unique experience.
There are exciting new developments coming in the future.
But what we truly take home are the moments we shared together.
The conversations during the drive.
The laughs while waiting in line.
The spontaneous photos.
The screams on the roller coasters.
The endless walking.
The sandwiches shared between rides.
The inside jokes that continue days later.

Now that the weather is getting warmer and the days are getting longer, I honestly think this is one of the best times of year to visit the park.
Just come prepared: comfortable shoes, sunscreen, a bottle of water—or better yet, a refillable drink cup—and plenty of energy.
Because you’ll do a lot of walking.
And you’ll do a lot of laughing, too.
I’d like to thank the Public Relations team at Six Flags Great Adventure for continuing to invite us and making us feel so welcome every time we visit.
We’re already looking forward to the next adventure.
And yes… we’re probably ready to lose a tiny piece of our souls on El Toro again.

If You Love Theme Parks…
This hasn’t been our only adventure at Six Flags Great Adventure.
If you’d like to read about some of our previous visits, be sure to check out my articles about:
🎢 DC Heroes & Villains Fest, where we explored one of the park’s most entertaining themed events.
👻 Fright Fest, the Halloween celebration that completely transforms the park after dark and turns thrills into chills.
Every visit has been different and has left us with wonderful memories, and I’d love for you to join us on those adventures as well.
I hope this guide to visiting Six Flags Great Adventure as a family helps you plan your next trip!
