If you need a new TV antenna installation, then it is crucial to begin by doing some homework to know exactly which company to hire as well as the different types of aerials currently available in the market. Having basic knowledge is a crucial aspect of the installation process. Here are the top five things you need to know to bring the whole process to fruition:

1) Do You Truly Need A New Aerial?

Not all circumstances always require the purchasing of a new aerial. You may only need a repair or an upgrade of your existing aerial. The decision to upgrade or repair your aerial instead of making an outright purchase is largely dependent on the type of signal you are receiving and your geographical location.

Persistent breakup in the signal or experiencing too much pixelation is an indication of an underlying problem with the components in your aerial system. Besides, it may also imply that your aerial size is not suitable to provide the best signal strength. This is where the role of a professional aerial installation engineer comes in handy to do the diagnostic tests and to get to the root of the problem.

2) The Term ‘Digital Aerial’ Is Inappropriate

Aerials have witnessed a significant development over the years to the extent that the modern designs that receive the signals more effectively are commonly known as “digital” in the antennae installation industry.

Even though these aerials assume a unique appearance compared to the older aerials, calling them ‘digital’ is mistaken. There is no such a thing as ‘digital TV aerial.’ Instead, they should just be viewed as modern aerials that are very efficient at receiving signals.

3) One Aerial Can Operate Several TVs

This is a common concern among many buyers. The reality is that one aerial is enough to operate multiple TVs. To achieve this, all you need to have is a multipoint digital media system or a TV and satellite points in every room with a TV. A professional engineer can provide the best solution in this regard.

4) HD Channels

Installing a digital aerial does not guarantee HD channels. Even after installing an aerial, you still need an HD receiver box or an HD TV to get the HD channels. Most of the TVs available in the market today are HD-ready. The development of smart TVs featuring internet functionality as well as the 3D TV is an implication that a vast majority are enjoying the HD experience now.

5) Cost

A new roof aerial is always going to cost some cash. Plenty of factors can affect the cost of your TV antenna installation. It is clear that not all the companies will have a similar definition of what a standard TV antenna installation entails. Nevertheless, all of them have a standard installation price. Every installation demands a different price. Get a price quotation from your chosen installation company beforehand.
